Musical Troupe

Musical Troupe

The Nixon Musical Troupe is a group of 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students who meet to share a love of singing and dancing. They perform in a variety of venues wherever and whenever possible. Chorus students practice two days each week after school and are directed by Nixon retiree Bebe Martin Smith. Mrs. Martin Smith is assisted by retired teachers Angela Roddy-Brown and Mrs. Tina VanWert.

Past chorus members have participated in;

City of Cerritos Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

California African American Museum Target First Sunday Performance

Nixon Library 100 year birthday celebration for Patricia Nixon

Ross Middle School variety show at Excelsior High School

Magnet School Open House at the District Office

Aquarium of the Pacific International Children's Day Festival

America Sings Festivals in Houston, Nashville, Canada, and Long Beach

Pantages Theater's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat

Our chorus is unique among elementary groups because Mrs. Martin Smith teaches most songs in two or three part harmony. For this reason, students audition for a spot in the Musical Troupe.
