Aloha and welcome to the 2026–2027 school year!
I’m Mrs. Saiki, and I have been teaching fourth grade for many years! I began my teaching career in first grade, but after several years, I made the move to fourth grade. One of the things I love most about fourth grade is teaching students about the history of California, the state I grew up in!
As a fourth grade teacher, I begin preparing my students for middle school by helping them become more independent and responsible learners. I also remind my students to always be kind, look out for one another, and treat others with aloha.
At Nixon, we are fortunate to have a wonderful 1:1 iPad program, with each student assigned their own iPad. We use our iPads for a variety of assignments and activities throughout the year. Students especially enjoy using Canva to create visual representations of what they are learning!
We use Reflex Math to strengthen our basic math facts skills and Accelerated Reader to improve reading comprehension. We also use IXL, which is directly aligned with our math and reading curriculum, to provide students with additional practice.
I’m looking forward to a wonderful school year filled with learning, growth, and lots of aloha!
